Iredell Arts Council
ADA COMPLIANT RAMP COMPLETED January 2015
We finally got our ramp completed thanks to a grant from Lowes Corporation and L. Gordon Metals donation of materials and manpower.
We are ecstatic to see this wonderful part of our renovation done.
We are extremely thankful. It would not have been possible without kind support of our benefactors.
The State of the arts in Iredell County 10/10/2014
We are in the midst of a changing cultural climate in Iredell County.
There is a perceived and real interest in promoting the arts. Statesville City council (SCC) has been dealing with growing pains in the creative area as was seen by the popularity of “Graffiti” rats and all the media they generated. It has been coming for a while and it’s beginning to manifest itself through street art, social media and action by organizations like the DSDC (Downtown Statesville Development Corporation) and other groups. The latest is the approval by the SCC to have artists work on the Parks & Recreation Greenway by using their talents in transforming the manhole covers and mounds into public art. Other initiatives include public sculpture and a film festival.
I am very excited with what is happening and know that the community will grow and be satisfied with all the collective efforts to make these initiatives come to fruition.
